Bdr Alam Perdana buyers get utility supply
KUALA LUMPUR: Good news are in store for the 2,500 homebuyers of the low-cost flats in Bandar Alam Perdana, Ijok, Selangor, who had received the keys and Certificate of Fitness (CF) to their units in April, but had to wait for the water and electricity supply to be connected.
Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB), which took over the abandoned project in 2007 and revived it, said that it was working to resolve the utilities issue.A SPNB spokesman said Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) had started to install the water meters yesterday.
The spokesman also said that the units should have electricity supply by Sept 2.
"We are working closely with Syabas and Tenaga Nasional Bhd to get the utilities connected for the purchasers as soon as possible," he said.
More than 15 homebuyers gathered at SPNB's office at Wisma Perkeso yesterday to protest against the delay in getting the water and electricity supply.
The buyers were also questioning the delay in the handing over of the 1,116 units of terrace houses, which were completed but had yet to receive the CF.
The buyers representative Capt (R) Amiruddin Abdullah, 54, said SPNB shouldn't be delaying the project for so long.
"The homebuyers have been waiting for 12 years for their house to be completed and when their homes are ready they can't move in because they have not received the CF," said Amiruddin.
"We hope that SPNB will solve this issue soon," he said.
Amiruddin said that they had been told that in order for the purchasers to get their CF, the Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd (IWK) sewerage plant had to be functioning.
"We have been told that SPNB will resolve the IWK sewerage system issue in a month.
"They also told us that they will be sending a report on the progress of the work fortnightly to the purchasers. We hope so see this matter solved soon," he said.
The SPNB spokesman said that out of the five issues revolving around the sewerage plant, they have managed to resolve three.
"There are two more issues pending and we are in the midst of resolving them.
"We expect to settle all these with IWK soon," he said.
Another purchaser Isaac Nathan, 60, said the buyers were feeling dishearten for a long time due to the delay in getting the CF.
"The buyers have been suffering for many years. They are still paying rental and some have been servicing their loans to the point of bankruptcy. We hope that this issue is resolved for the sake of the buyers," said Nathan.
